The short version: your food log stays on your phone. We only get what's needed to scan food, run your circle and league, back up your progress if you ask, and email you about Cubey. We never sell your data. Email cubeyapp@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Who we are
Cubey is an app that helps you cut added sugar. In this policy, "Cubey", "we" and "us" mean the people who run Cubey. You can reach us at cubeyapp@gmail.com.
The waitlist on this website
When you join the waitlist, we store:
- Your email address
- Your phone type (iPhone or Android) and whether you'd pay for Cubey, if you answer
- How you found us, for example the site that linked you here
- The date you joined
We use this only to email you when Cubey launches and to understand who wants it. We don't send other marketing, and we never sell or share the list. The list is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the United States. This website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google can see your IP address when the page loads.
If you tap "Continue with Google", Google shares your email address with this page so you don't have to type it. We only use the email. Google's own privacy policy covers what Google does when you sign in.
In the app
What stays on your phone
Your answers to the setup quiz, your food log, daily sugar totals, reflections, cravings and progress photos are saved on your phone. We can't see them.
Scanning food
When you scan, the photo (or the text you type) is sent to our server and to an AI model, Google's Gemini or Anthropic's Claude as a backup, to recognize the food. We don't keep your photos. To find the sugar, we may look up the food name or barcode in food databases (Open Food Facts, the USDA and Edamam). We keep a shared table of foods and their sugar so the same food always gets the same number. It holds food data only, nothing about you. We count how many scans each account makes per day to prevent abuse.
Your account
The first time you scan, join a circle or join the league, the app creates an anonymous account ID. If you add your email to back up your progress, we store that email and a copy of your progress so you can restore it on a new phone. Only you can read your backup.
Circles and the league
These are optional. If you join, we store the first name and avatar color you choose, whether you checked in each day, your daily points and a notification token so your friends' cheers reach you. Friends in your circle see your first name, avatar color, whether you checked in and how many days this week. League members see your first name and weekly points. Nobody sees what you ate. If you report or hide someone, we store that report.
Subscriptions
Payments are handled by Apple, Google or Paddle, with RevenueCat keeping track of who has an active subscription. We get your subscription status, never your card details.

How long we keep it
- Waitlist: until Cubey launches and we've emailed you, then we delete it unless you sign up.
- Account, backup, circle and league data: until you delete them.
- Scan photos: not stored.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings and tap "Delete all my data". It deletes your account, your backup and your circle and league membership. To be removed from the waitlist, or for anything else, email cubeyapp@gmail.com. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct it. We'll reply within 30 days.
Children
Cubey isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us their data, email us and we'll delete it.
Health information
Cubey gives general guidance on added sugar. It's not medical advice and doesn't diagnose or treat anything. Talk to a doctor before changing your diet if you have a medical condition such as diabetes.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is important, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
